A short distance away is the more famous and ever more popular tourist resort of Vilamoura. Many of the staff that work in Vilamoura are billeted in Quarteira and add to the vibrant night life in the area.
Many Portuguese tourists visit Quarteira year after year and make full use of the exceptional beach which has very safe swimming and bathing conditions. There is also the strip which is a long promenade with a large number of restaurants, cafes and bars.
The city is west of Faro and the airport is about 25kms away making it great holiday base and equally you can find property for sale with good returns or a great place to live.
Quarteira has approximately 16,000 inhabitants and covers some 37 km² this of course increases dramatically in the summer when many thousands of tourists are in the area.
The off season also offers good rental returns for the many golfers who still visit throughout the year.
